Aurovalley is located in the State of Uttrakhand, in Northern India, between the sacred cities of Hardwar and Rishikesh and at the foothills of the Himalayan mountain range in the banks of the sacred River Ganges, in an interior rural area near the small village of Raiwala.

WEATHER
December and January until mid February are wintertime. It does not snow but it can get cold (0°C) at night. During the months of February, March and April, as well as October and November you will find very pleasant weather. From May, June, until mid July the weather is hot. The monsoon or rainy season is between mid-July and September. During that time the temperature drops but the humidity rises.

HOW TO ARRIVE
You can reach Aurovalley from New Delhi plane, train or by road.
By Plane The nearest international airport is in New Delhi and the nearest domestic airport is in Dehradun, 40 minutes away from Aurovalley. There are regular flights from Delhi to Dehradun. Airport pick up can be arranged at any of these airports. To do so, please contact us.
By Train There are many trains coming from Delhi, the best one is called Shatabdi – Dehradun Express. It leaves twice daily from New Delhi Train Station and the journey takes 4:15 hrs up to Hardwar. The chair car and the executive class are comfortable and include food and mineral water.
To be picked up in a taxi at Hardwar Train Station, please contact us. You can also have the option of hiring a taxi at the train station. The journey takes near 40 minutes.
You can also hire an express auto-rickshaw at half the price of a taxi, or take a public auto-rickshaw to Raiwala and from Raiwala you can walk or hire an express auto-rickshaw to cover the last 3 km.
By Road We can also send you a taxi to pick you up at Delhi Airport or at your hotel in New Delhi. Please contact us. It takes about 7 hours to drive from Delhi to Aurovalley (212 km).
The cheapest way to reach Aurovalley Ashram is by bus. If you come from Delhi you can get a bus to Rishikesh or to Dehradun (via Hardwar) and stop in Raiwala. You can either walk 3 km or hire an express auto-rickshaw.

FOOD AND ACCOMMODATION
The food is completely vegetarian. It includes milk products and is not spicy. Filtered drinking water is available.
Accommodation for 1 to 4 people can be organised either in rooms or apartments. The rooms are simple and clean, all with private bathroom and solar water heating system. All rooms have mattresses, bed sheets, pillows and quilts for the wintertime.
Aurovalley is free of smoke, drugs, stimulants and alcohol.

WHAT TO BRING
You only need to bring your personal items. Bring comfortable clothes according to the season and shoes easy to take off. At the ashram you can buy towel, soap, toilet paper, etc. A torch is also recommended. If you are taking special medicines we advise you to bring them with you since the names and qualities might be different from those of the Indian market.
It is also advisable that ladies follow the local tradition and bring clothes that cover legs and shoulders, even for bathing in the River Ganges to avoid the risk of being harassed. This river is considered a temple; it is not culturally acceptable to use shorts or western style bathing suits.
